Brosnan, 53, who is chairman of the Intertanko legal and insurance committee and a director of Shoreline Mutual, the Bermuda-based certificates of financial responsibility (Cofrs) guarantor, is expected to switch from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore in August.
The former broker undertook a major reorganisation of MISC’s insurance programme last year, winning plaudits for achieving exceptionally favourable terms for a more than 150-vessel fleet covered for $10bn.
Singapore and Norway-based BW group is a large operator of tankers, as well as LNG and LPG carriers and floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units.
Brosnan started out as a deck cadet on Mobil tankers before becoming a trainee average adjustor. He has previously worked for Stolt-Nielsen, Peter Doehle Schiffahrts and was a broker with Willis in London.
